Mary Ann Boyle, board certified genealogist and private investigator, spoke to Progress Club at the Oct. 2 meeting. She related an intriguing account of a “Case of Assumed Identity.” Taking two years to unravel this identity mystery, is a story about a woman’s determination to leave behind a previous life and begin a new life and identity. Taking many twists and turns and dead ends, Dr. Boyle recreated for the club the story of a woman born in the early 1900s and her successful incognito existence. Name changes, sex changes, and privacy laws have made it difficult to find persons who do not want to be found.
