Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Oct. 5 at the 10th Street Pizza Hut. Jeri Brozek served as hostess and co-hostess. President Brenda Black led the meeting.
Service chair Susan Brown reported she had delivered a $50 check to First Kansas Bank as a donation for Christopher Schneweis, a 5-year-old child who needs to go to Germany to receive a stem cell procedure for his cerebral palsy. Members decided to bring food items of their choice or those that are on sale to the next October meeting for the Food Bank.
Rosie Luthi reported the next chapter social will be “On the Run,” a progressive supper starting at 6:30 p.m. at Taco Bell for hors d’oeuvres and continuing with members progressing to a different eating establishment for each course of the meal.
Jeri Brozek presented the program on pacemakers, their purpose and how they work as they provide electronic impulses to restore the heart’s rhythm. She said the pacemaker is the most common way to treat a slow or irregular heartbeat, which she defined as being fewer than 60 beats per minute.
The next meeting of Preceptor Pi will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 19 at the home of Susan Brown. Jeanne Schmitt will serve as co-hostess and Brenda Black will present the program.
