Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi

Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Sept. 7 at the home of Jeanne Schmitt. Brenda Black served as co-hostess. Attending the meeting were 13 members. President Brenda Black led the meeting.
Members decided to continue donating food items to the Food Bank. Susan Brown, Service Committee chair, suggested that members bring juice for the Food Bank to the next meeting.
Karen Reif reported five members took part in a Ways and Means reception project in July. As chair of the Social Committee, Reif reported the next chapter social will be an “ice cream and brownies” social at 7 p.m. Sept. 18, at First Christian Church, K-96 and Broadway. It will be a “Back to Sorority” social for couples with games included. Members and guests should enter the northeast door of the church.
City Council Representative Janice Lubeck asked for feedback regarding the Aug. 31 Beginning Day social. Members commented that the table centerpieces using Jeanne Schmitt’s dolls were cute, the salads were good and Central Baptist Church as the location worked out well. Lubeck said the chapter will entertain Laureate Kappa as Sister Chapter on Jan. 18. The event will be planned by the Social Committee.
Jeanne Schmitt presented a short program on tea, how it is grown and the varieties of teas. She passed around samples of several different kinds of tea. She also exhibited two unusual teapots.
The next meeting of Preceptor Pi will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the home of Brenda Black. Linda Jerke will be co-hostess and Judy Krebaum will give the program.
