Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Feb. 22 at First Congregational United Church of Christ for a “Winter Wonderland Party” hosted by Sister Chapter Xi Delta Upsilon. The Sister Chapter served chili with various toppings and cherry crunch with ice cream for dessert. Xi Delta Upsilon also presented each Preceptor Pi member with a stuffed snowman holding a fleece blanket.
Judy Krebaum reported in a Beta Brief from The Torch magazine that Beta Sigma Phi International will celebrate its 80th birthday this year. Members are contributing cereal to the Food Bank this month. The chapter honored Jeri Brozek as the chapter’s 2011 Valentine Queen at a dinner in her honor Feb. 12.
Janice Lubeck, the chapter’s BSP City Council representative, reported the next meeting of City Council will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17, with Preceptor Pi as host chapter. Brenda Black volunteered to have the meeting at her house.
Lubeck spoke briefly about plans for the Founder’s Day menu and program. Members will have their choice of two meats (pork chop or chicken breast) and either strawberry shortcake or chocolate layered dessert (to be determined by vote of all four chapters). The Founder’s Day celebration is set for April 26 in the Cavanaugh Room at Barton Community College. Dinner cost (including tip) will be $10.35 for plastic tableware or $11.50 for glass tableware. The meal will be catered by Faye Grandy of Sweet Traditions, Rozel.
The next meeting of Preceptor Pi will be at 7 p.m. March 2 hosted by Susan Coulson at the CPI Annex unless otherwise specified. Reta Lucas will be co-hostess and Rosie Luthi will present the program.
