Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Oct. 19 at the CPI Annex. Susan Brown served as hostess and Jeanne Schmitt was co-hostess. President Brenda Black led the meeting.
Judy Krebaum presented the Beta Brief about the Golden Circle Award, which recognizes members for 50 years of membership in Beta Sigma Phi.
Service chair Susan Brown reported she had collected food for the Food Bank for October. After discussion, members decided to bring cans of pumpkin for the Food Bank in November. In addition, instead of having a chapter Thanksgiving dinner this year, members decided to give extra food items to the Food Bank to help provide Thanksgiving foods for families in need.
Karen Reif, social committee chair, reported several members and husbands attended the Oct. 16 chapter social, “On the Run,” a progressive supper.
Brenda Black introduced guest speaker Kyle Krebaum, who gave an update on the Makinna Ann Hope Foundation, established to help families with special-needs children. The Foundation works with Sunflower Early Education Center and other organizations to respond to needs of those families. He said the Foundation is working on a Santa List of adaptive toys that can be purchased to help special-needs children. The toys would be returned to the center when a child is finished with them so the toys can be re-utilized by other children who need them.
The next meeting of Preceptor Pi will be at 7 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the home of Lois Johnson, who also will serve as co-hostess and present the program.
