Progress Club met on March 4 at the home of Karen Becker, with Pat Halbower and Janet Engleman serving as co-hostesses. There were 17 members in attendance.
Chet Cale, sculptor, presented a program on the bronze he made to honor Jack Kilby. It is called, “The Gift”, and depicts Jack Kilby (representing the past) handing the gift of the microchip to a young boy (the present) while a little girl (the future) looks on. The sculpture is 1 1/4 times life size, making the Kilby figure 8 feet tall. Cale explained the process of creating the piece in detail.
Jackie Curtis, nominating committee, presented the following slate of officers for the 2013-14: President, Norma Ward; Vice President, Judy Fox; Secretary, Pat Klusener; Treasurer, Darlene Mathers.
The April meeting will held at the home of Judy Fox with Mary Dikeman, Maxie Hinkson and Jackie Curtis as co-hostesses. The program will be given by Lily Akings of the Baron County Health Department.
