Each year, the Great Bend Pilot Club supports the efforts of Pilot International through a multitude of activities. The original Foundation - Pilot International Foundation was established in 1975 to support the community-based work of Pilot Clubs by promoting the awareness and prevention of brain-related disorders, and improving the lives of those affected by such disorders, through education, volunteerism, financial support, and research.
The Club membership each year chooses among its members, a member that exemplifies the attributers of a Pilot. The member chosen as the PI Sweetheart must be active in an assigned role within the club, promote and support the aims of Pilot International and its activities, be active in a project that exemplifies the brain-related service focus of the Pilot International and be faithful in attending meetings and give generously of her time to assist with service projects and fund-raising activities.
Two outstanding Pilots have been honored with the 2013-2014 Great Bend Kansas Pilot Sweetheart Honor. PIFF Representative Jeri Marietta awards Mary Cramer (pictured left) and Sally O’Connor (pictured right ) with their recognition certificates. These members have both shown their willingness to be active and serve with enthusiasm and caring.
The club will make a donation to Pilot International to honor and recognize these two outstanding Pilots as this year’s Pilot International Sweethearts.
