Dahl to speak at Aglow
SondraDahl
Sondra Dahl

Sondra Dahl will be the featured speak at the next meeting of Great Bend Aglow International. Fellowship time starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Perkins Family Restaurant, 2920 10th St., with the meeting to follow at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome.

For as long as she can remember, Sondra has been in love with God, even though she was afraid of him many years until she got saved. Sondra married her high school sweetheart, Bill Barnett, and to this union four sons and one daughter were born. Bill and Sondra were co-directors of the Lighthouse for girls, a Christian drug and alcohol program for women over the age of 16, for seven years. They ministered to about 250 women during that time.

The Lord God called them to start a church in Hoxie and serve as pastors for four years. They went on to pastor two other churches, and then Bill died as the result of an accident at work.

Sondra was a widow for about 17 years and never planned to remarry, but the Lord had other plans. Out of the blue, one night after Bible study, a longtime widower friend of hers, Jay Dahl, proposed to her and she said yes. Jay and Sondra were married for a little over eight years when he passed away, one month after Sondra’s son died, last December.

Sondra has been involved with Aglow since the mid-1970s when Aglow started a chapter in Colby. She has served on the local boards in Colby and Garden City and on the West Area Kansas board. She cherishes the friendships she has made over the years through Aglow.

Sondra can attest to the constant faithfulness of God the Father, the friendship of Jesus, and the companionship of the Holy Spirit.
