DAR Library relocating to Wichita

Monthly Fort Larned Chapter NSDAR met Sept. 11, at Jordaan Memorial Library. Members present were Donna Campbell, Janet Skelton, Merlere Baird, Joann Lewis, Sharon Webster, Cathy Schoonover, Cynthia Perez, Oletha Beckwith and Brenda Van Meter. 

After reciting the DAR ritual, Donna and Sharon performed the induction of Oletha Beckwith. 

Donna informed the club that the DAR Library that is located in Dodge City will be relocating to Wichita in the future. 

Cynthia informed members that after the meeting the club will reconvene at 3:15 p.m. at Larned City Hall for Mayor William Nusser to sign the proclamation for Constitution Week 2018.

Sept. 17, the club met at the Pawnee County Courthouse at 9 a.m. for the County Commissioner’s to sign a county wide proclamation for Constitution Week. Sept. 19 the club joined the Fort Larned Old Guard to provide a reception for the new citizens and guests after their Naturalization Ceremony at Fort Larned. The club has been invited by the Great Bend American Legion to take part in a pinning ceremony for Vietnam veterans at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. 

The next meeting will be at 2 p.m. on Oct. 9, at Jordaan Memorial Library. Guest will be State Regent Katherine Walker West.
