Barry C. and Cathie S. McManaman announce the engagement of their daughter, Dena Alese McManaman, to Matthew Winslow Hiss, son of Robert K. and Patricia E. Hiss.

The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of Great Bend High School. She graduated from Barton Community College in 2006 with an associates degree in Communications, attended Kansas State University from 2006 to 2008, and will graduate from Newman University in December 2011 with a degree in Elementary Education. She is employed by USD 428 in Great Bend as a para-educator.

The prospective groom is a 2004 graduate of Great Bend High School. He attended Baker University from 2004 to 2008 where he earned his Bachelors Degree of Science in Business Finance and Management.

The wedding is planned for Oct. 1 at Camp Aldrich.
