Mike and Diane Starr of Emporia, announce the engagement of their daughter Whitney Starr to Justin Axman, son of Joe and Kathy Axman of Olmitz.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Dr. Robert Starr of Ark City, and the late Donna Starr and Clarence and Shirley Schillig of Westphilia. The prospective groom is the grandson of Betty Mae Axman of Olmitz, and the late Jerome Axman and Deloris Nuss of Russell and the late Earlin Nuss.
The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of Emporia High School. In 2014 she graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She is pursuing a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Kansas State University. She is a 1st grade teacher at Timmerman Elementary School in Emporia.
The prospective groom is a 2009 graduate of Hoisington High School. In 2013 he graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and in 2015  he graduated from Kansas State University with a Master’s degree in Animal Science. He is employed with Livestock Nutrition Center in Chickasha, Okla.
The wedding is planned for April 30, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia.
