TUESDAY, Oct. 24


• Senior Center Halloween Party – 1 p.m. at the Great Bend Senior Center. Dress up and join your friends for an afternoon of spooky fun and refreshments.


• Tuesdays of Terror – 4 p.m. at the Great Bend Public Library. Free movie.


THURSDAY, Oct. 26


• Great Jack-o’-lantern Patch – Check the Great Bend Recreation Commission Facebook page. Share a photo of your 2023 pumpkin in the comment section by Oct. 30. Three randomly chosen entries will receive a Halloween package. Winners will be contacted by Nov. 3.


• Creativiteens: Potion Sensory Bottles – 4 p.m. at the Great Bend Public Library’s Teen Spot. For students in grades 6-12. Distress old bottles and make magically relaxing decorations in time for Halloween.


• Barton Theatre presents “Puffs”  – 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium. “Puffs,” by Matt Cox is a wizard-centric original comedy for anyone who has never been destined to save the world. Join the “Braves,” “Snakes,” “Smarts,” and “Puffs” for a show filled with laughs and adventure. Suitable for all ages. Tickets are $10, available only at the door. Children and students with an ID get in for free.


•Kayettes Trick or Treat for Project Hope – GBHS girls in Kayettes will be knocking on doors seeking donations for Project Hope (https://www.projecthope.org/). This is a community service project.


FRIDAY, Oct. 27


• Trunk or Treat – 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Brookdale, 1260 Patton Road. Cake walk, candy. Chili fundraiser ($5 suggested donation).


• Haunted Friday on Forest – 5-9 p.m. in the 2200 block of Forest Ave. Costume contest at 8:30. Ax throwing and more. See the Community Events listing on this page.


• “McKown Masquerade Ball” – 6:30 p.m. at Barton Community College’s Shafer Art Gallery. Free event for guests ages 21 and over. Costume contest, live music, hors d’oeuvres and fine wine. Due to alcohol being served, guests must RSVP by phone at 620-792-9342 or via email at shafergallery@bartonccc.edu.


• Barton Theatre presents “Puffs”  – 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.


SATURDAY, Oct. 28


• Chromotize Trunk or Treat – 8-10 a.m. Free pancakes and coffee, treats for the kids, 117 E. Fifth St., Larned.


• Downtown Halloween Trick or Treat Boo and Community Trunk or Treat – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Main Street, starting at Jack Kilby Square. Kiwanis Club invites kids to wear their costumes and gather goodies from businesses on both sides of Main Street. Community churches are organizing the trunk or treat with more sponsors parked around the courthouse square. 


• Barton Theatre presents “Puffs”  – 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.


• Haunted Library – 2-4 p.m. Jordaan Memorial Library, 724 Broadway, Larned.


• First Christian Church Trunk or Treat – 2-4 p.m. 716 Broadway, Larned.


• Cemetery Walking Tour – 4-6 p.m. at Larned Cemetery. Sponsored by Santa Fe Trail Center, Larned.


• Haunting on the Hill – 4-7 p.m. at Barton Community College’s Fine Arts Building. Explore the creative side of the season. The family friendly community celebration includes games, performances, art-making, a dance session and costume contest.  Pre-events start at 3 p.m. 


• Track or Treat – 5-6:30 p.m. at Great Bend High School’s Memorial Stadium. Enter from 19th St. on the east side of the track. Haunted Hallway in the Panther Activity Center (PAC) if you dare! 


TUESDAY, Oct. 31


• Fort Larned Elementary Trunk or Treat – 2:30 p.m. LES back parking lot, 2104 Broadway, Larned.


• Treat Street – 4-5:30 p.m. at Grace Community Church. Candy, games, bounce house, hot dogs and door prizes.


• Trunk or Treat – 4-6 p.m. at the Stafford County Hospital. A fun and safe annual event that the kids of Stafford look forward to every year.


• Walter S. Chears American Legion Riders Trunk or Treat – 5-8:30 p.m. Doeer-Veronon Park, Larned.


• Fall Fest – 5-7 p.m. at First Southern Baptist Church. Trunk-or-treat style family-friendly event.
