Halloween treats continue at the library

Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! The end of October is right around the corner, and while we’ve had spooky fun all month long, we have a few more fun events to get you in the spooky season mood just in time for Halloween.

Starting with kids we have a very special story time that will double as a treat carnival! After story time parents and their kids up to 5 years old will have the chance to enjoy games like Busting Ghosts, Pin the Bowtie on Mr. Bones, and many more. Children will receive treats for each activity they participate in. This event will take place during both of our regular story times Tuesday, October 26 at 10:30 a.m., and Thursday, October 28 at 6:30 p.m.

For teens we have our Day O’ Spooks event happening Friday, Oct. 22, starting at 2:30 p.m. Enjoy a movie and snacks while you piece together your own Frankentoy. There will even be face painting as long as local health conditions permit. Plus, anyone coming in costume will receive a special coupon for a free pizza! We also have Floating Ghost Take & Make kits that you can pick up to create your own Halloween decor at home. On a less spooky note, next Monday will be our Teen Tech Play Day. Come to the Teen Spot after school to experiment with different kinds of fun, hands-on technology! Then on Thursday don’t miss our Teen Anime Watch Party, where we’ll watch as many episodes of teens’ choice anime in an hour and a half as possible, starting at 6 p.m.

We didn’t forget our adult patrons in the spooktacular festivities! On Friday, October 29, we are hosting a Hades Video Game Night. Defy the God of the Dead as you hack and slash out of the Underworld in this rogue-like dungeon crawler. Can you survive the trials, let alone beat our librarian’s top score? This event begins after-hours at 5 p.m., so be sure to get here before our doors close for the evening!

Finally, Thursday, October 28, will be your last day to enter our Pumpkin Decorating Contest for all ages. We have gotten so many amazing entries so far, so make sure to get yours in by the deadline if you want a chance at any of the awesome prizes being offered.
