Lots of anglers have caught fish using drones. But it's safe to say that none of them reacted quite like David Freiheit. His hilarious exuberance, captured on film, is now going viral. - photo by Grant Olsen
LAKE CHAMPLAIN, Canada As recreational drones have become more prevalent, so has the practice of fishing with them.

A recent YouTube video features a man drone fishing for bass on Lake Champlain, and when the attempt is successful, the anglers reaction is nothing short of hilarious.

According to a report from WCAX-TV, the anglers name is David Freiheit. Using a DJI Phantom 2 drone, Freiheit decided to troll the surface of the lake with a jitterbug. And when a good-sized bass strikes the lure, he reacted with unbound enthusiasm.

"Oh my gosh!" he shouts. "Did you just see the fish? I got a fish! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Holy crab apples!"

After using the drone to bring the bass close to shore, Freiheit then pulled it in the rest of the way by hand.

Holy cows, I did not think this was going to work!" he exclaimed.

The giddy fisherman then sprinted along the shore to show the bass to his wife, Marien. And he repeatedly bellowed her name as he searched for her, much like Sylvester Stallone at the end of Rocky.

Its safe to say that Marien was a bit less excited about the catch. When Freiheit finally found her and the children, they paid more attention to his over-the-top antics than to the fish in his hands.

"She was definitely not as excited as I was, Freiheit told WCAX-TV. For a second, she had thought something horrible had happened, but she was with the kids, so it couldn't have been that bad. I don't think anybody will ever be as excited as I was."

After a few photos were snapped of the drone-caught bass, Freiheit hustled back to the lake to release it. And as the bass swam away, Freiheit felt the full magnitude of what he had accomplished.

"Well, I don't know what to do with the rest of my life," he tells the camera.
