Lifelong Great Bend residents Russell (Speedy) Hoberecht and Wanda Kirkman will celebrate their 70th anniversary. They were united in marriage on Sept. 20, 1953. Russell served in the Marine Corps in Korea. Once he returned to Great Bend, he worked in the oilfield, retiring from Koch Industries. Wanda worked for the school and at Sears for many years. They have three children, Mark and Kirk Hoberecht and Lisa Kjellberg; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
