The Hutchinson Community Based VA Outpatient Clinic in Hutchinson is offering a new service for disabled and medically fragile Veterans in need of a caregiver. The Medical Foster Home Program started in Hutchinson several months ago but has been active at the Wichita VA since 2010.
Hutchinson has a full time Medical Foster Home Coordinator and is in search of caregivers interested in providing room and board, supervision and assistance for up to three Veterans in their homes located within 50 miles of Hutchinson. Caregivers and their homes must meet certain criteria to be eligible for this program. Caregivers will receive continuous training and support from the Medical Foster Home Coordinator in Hutchinson and the Veteran’s medical team. It is hoped that these Veteran’s (our nation’s heroes) will be cared for like family and provided a permanent place of residence. For more information on this program, contact jennifer.hoard@va.gov or call 888-878-6881, ext. 41100 or 316-737-0261.
