Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Our summer library program kicked off this week and we are officially in full swing. We have quite a few events and activities going on. Everything this summer is going to be done digitally or be something you can grab from the library, and take home to do, like our mermaid book folding craft for teens and adults. Come in and ask for the craft and we will hand you a bag with everything you need, including instructions to make your own! Supplies on this and all our crafts will be limited, so it’s first come first served. Starting on Monday next week we will have our cross stitch craft available for pick up, by teen and adult patrons. Great for those wanting to learn cross stitch or just looking for something fun to make.

Friday, July 10, at 6 p.m. we will have Fairy Tale Trivia Night on Facebook Live. Contestants will be asked a variety of multiple-choice questions about traditional fairy tales. All ages are welcome to test their knowledge for the chance to win a prize! This event is open to all ages, but we do recommend parental discretion as older fairy tales may be frightening to young children. Then Saturday for teens we have our Honey Heist: Tabletop RPG Adventure event. Teens will be on a team of fellow bears, given a mission to plan a heist, to retrieve some liquid gold! Space for this event is limited so be sure to register on our website greatbendpl.info.

Next week our Teen Anime and Manga Club will be meeting on Thursday at 6 p.m. This club will be meeting every Thursday night for the month of July. Teens can also pick up a copy of the manga we will be discussing throughout the month, Ouran High School Host Club. On the last Thursday of the month, we will be watching the anime for this manga with a special episode planned for that day. The Teen Writing Club will be meeting virtually Monday the 13th. If you know a creative teen who enjoys writing they can find more information on how to join the virtual meetings, on the teen section of our website.

Next week for children and families we will have a virtual storytime Tuesday at 10:30 am on Facebook live. Join Miss Amy for great stories and silly sketches. We will be having story times every Tuesday throughout the month. If you can’t make it to any of the live story times, all story times will be archives of our Facebook and website.

If you haven’t already, don’t forget to register your child or teen for our summer programs. You can find information on how to register on our website, greatbendpl.info. Our adult program does not require registration, anyone interested can come in and get a bag with everything you need to participate in the program, but supplies are limited to first come first served.
