Joyce Essmiller of Great Bend, will celebrate her 95th birthday with a card shower and family dinner. 

Joyce was born Feb. 11, 1926, in Hoisington, to Mark and Ida (Willcutt) Phillips. She married Arnold Essmiller Jr. on Jan. 19, 1944, and they celebrated 73 years of marriage before his passing. She worked for the Barton County Farm Bureau Board for many years, and later for Steadman & Hawk Accountants, then for Midwest Energy Engineering Department before her retirement.

She has three daughters Jan Bolick, Carmel, Ind., ArNell Briel (Jon), Great Bend, and Jadean Takao (Eric), Kailua, Hawaii; four grandchildren, Brent (Amy) Bolick, Jacksonville, Fla., Wendy (Shane) Sundahl, Larned, Robin (Matt) Murphy, Fishers, Ind., and Hayley (Shane) Dicks, Great Bend; and eight great grandchildren, Sophie and Olivia Bolick, Conner Deer, Brady Murphy, Dalton and Parker Dicks, and Slade and Darby Sundahl.
