The Honorable Mike Keeley, retired 20th Judicial District Judge, spoke to the Progress Club at their meeting on Nov. 1. He was elected for seven terms and served for 28 years from 1993 to 2021.
Judges are expected to follow statewide sentencing guidelines that are adjusted yearly to control the prison population. One of the changes that occurred while he was a judge was adopting the electronic filing of cases. Judge Keeley feels that the drug problem has remained fairly consistent for the last few years, but the child-in-need-of-care cases have increased.
The Dec. 6th meeting will be the Christmas luncheon. Co-Hostesses will be Linda Dougherty and Pat Klusener.
