Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! We have some exciting events next week starting with our Let’s Get Techy Day event, Monday at 10:30 a.m. Where kids from 3rd to 5th grade can explore, fiddle, create, and learn with various activity stations like Wonderology Robot Factory, Squishy Circuits, Code, Go Mouse Brie Structure, and many more! If you have a technology-inclined child, this is the event for them. Registration for this event is required and can be done on our website, or you can find a link to the registration on the event’s Facebook page.
For children of all ages next week we have Early Literacy Story Time on Tuesday as well as Family Story Time on Thursday. Bring your little learners to the library for an active time focused on encouraging the development of early literacy skills through picture books, fingerplays, music, art and movement.
For teens, we have Teen Tuesday at 4 p.m. Teens from grades 6-12 can join Miss Haylee and Miss Shannon in the Teen Spot to hang out and have fun with other teens doing crafts and games. We do ask that teens RSVP for this event, this can be done by using the code @gbteentues in the Remind app, on remind.com, or in a text to 81010 (standard message rates apply). This way we can be sure to have enough supplies for everyone who wants to come.
Rounding out our busy Tuesday with adults we have Tech Tuesday and our Open Book Club. Stop by the library starting at 11 a.m. for one-on-one tech help with your E-reader, tablet, laptop, or any other personal smart device that is giving you trouble. Our reference librarian will be happy to help you figure out your device and get you back on track. Our Open Book Club will meet later that day at 7 p.m. This month’s book is “The Secret, Book & Scone Society” by Ellery Adams. “Miracle Springs, North Carolina, is a place of healing. Strangers flock here hoping the natural hot springs, five-star cuisine, and renowned spa can cure their ills. If none of that works, they often find their way to Miracle Books, where, over a fresh-baked ‘comfort’ scone from the Gingerbread House bakery, they exchange their stories with owner Nora Pennington in return for a carefully chosen book.” If this sounds interesting to you, we have copies available at the front desk and the book is available as both an ebook and audiobook on our digital platforms, Hoopla and Libby.
