Kiwanis receives grants, preps for Party in the Park

Great Bend’s Kiwanis Club announced members would have a float in this Saturday’s Wet & Dry Parade at Party in the Park. Floats will be lined up on 17th Street around 9:30 a.m.

Club members will also help with the judging.

Club secretary Frankie Pelster also reports that the local chapter was recently awarded two grants from the Kansas Kiwanis Foundation.

One was for $900 to United Way of Central Kansas for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and the other was for $600 to USD 428 for the Great Bend High School. Student Ambassador project to add an outdoor patio and gathering space at GBHS.

In other club news, member Suresh Maharjan has been named Vice Governor of the Kansas Kiwanis District for the upcoming year. In two years, he will be the Governor of the Kansas Kiwanis District.
