Chamber Music Recital at the Sandzen Gallery

Kimberly Roberts, soprano, will present a chamber music recital at 1:30 p.m. on March 8, at the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg. The recital will feature Scandinavian music of Sibelius and Sven Lekberg, as well as the music of Giacomo Puccini and Michael Patterson.
Dr. Kimberly Roberts received advanced music degrees from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Music in Education degree from Simpson College. She has performed with the Lafayette Symphony, Oklahoma City Symphony, Orchestra Iowa, and the Des Moines Metro Opera.  Currently, she and her accompanist, Dr. Michael Patterson, are on the faculty at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.
Dr. Michael Patterson is a longtime supporter of the Sandzen Gallery and a graduate of Simpson College in Piano Performance and Music Education. He later received his Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Iowa and has a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma. At Simpson College, he teaches courses in Elementary Music Methods, Piano, Sight-Singing and Ear Training, Chamber Music Literature, Symphonic Literature, Piano Literature, Piano Pedagogy, Composition, Survey of Music Literature.
As a composer, Dr. Patterson has received numerous commissions for choral works, songs, works for saxophone, and two one-act operas. He is a past recipient of the Iowa Composers Forum and Iowa Choral Directors Association Award as well as the Simpson College Distinguished Research Award.
