Here are five movies from various platforms families may want to consider. Because not all are appropriate for younger children, age recommendations are included.

This weekend, families all over will participate in a whirlwind of trick-or-treating, parties and candy eating. We recommended five animated Halloween flicks earlier this month, and here are five movies for families to consider as part of their Halloween festivities.

iTunes: 'Monster's, Inc.'

Two monsters accidentally let a little girl into their world via the factory where they work to scare children and use their screams to power the city. MovieGuide.org calls the film an "incredibly imaginative, exciting, fabulous, family friendly animated movie" and praised the film's theme "that fun and friendship conquer fear." The website adds "very mild caution" for young viewers, who may find some moments frightening, but states that "these moments are much milder than most movies." Ok.com recommends the film for viewers ages 4 and older.

Amazon Instant: 'Hotel Transylvania'

Draculas hotel exclusively for monsters gets an unwanted visit from a human, who also takes interest in Draculas daughter. MovieGuide.org states that the films great visuals and punchy comedy are designed for families but provides warning about the film's soft horror theme. Ok.com recommends the film for viewers ages 6 and older.

Netflix: 'Corpse Bride'

A shy groom accidentally attracts the attention of a deceased bride. While Parent Previews notes that parents should exercise caution due to the film's depiction of postmortem characters, the website also highlights the films message that the real power of love isnt in money or appearances. Ok.com recommends the film for viewers ages 9 and older.

iTunes: 'Hocus Pocus'

A teenage boy accidentally brings three 300-year-old witch sisters back to life on Halloween night. While Common Sense Media states that this Disney film is done in the playful, spooky spirit of Halloween, parents should note that some of films content is not appropriate for young children. Ok.com recommends the film for viewers ages 10 and older.

Amazon Instant: 'Paranorman'

Common Sense Media labeled the film a great pick for brave older tweens and middle-schoolers, citing its themes of tolerance and teamwork as positive elements. The website warns parents, however, that the film is, above all else, a monster movie, and it will scare little kids. Ok.com recommends the film for viewers ages 10 and older.
