One-piano, Four-hand Concert at the Sandzn Gallery

Steven Gustafson and Jean Hendricks will be performing a one-piano, four-hand concert at 2 p.m. on Jan. 15, at the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg. This program, a part of the Gallery’s chamber music series, includes the lively Slavic Dances by Antonin Dvorak, the Allegro from Mozart’s Sonata in C Major, and an original Andante and Variations work by Felix Mendelssohn. They will also be performing works by Francis Poulene, Edvard Grieg, and Georges Bizet.
Steven Gustafson currently serves as the Chancel Choir director for Bethany Church in Lindsborg. He chaired the McPherson College music department for many years and was employed in a variety of college administrative positions from 1980-2016. Gustafson received his undergraduate degree from Bethany College and completed master’s and doctoral work at the University of Colorado, Boulder. His piano teachers have included Robert Edwards at McPherson College and Lambert Dahlsten at Bethany College.
Jean Hendricks studied piano at McPherson College under Robert Edwards and at the University of Kansas with Richard Angeletti. Her keyboard skills have been an active avocation for decades. She has accompanied numerous soloists and choirs, performed four-hand and duo-piano concerts, played for churches, and participated in various instrumental ensembles. Vocationally, she was a teacher, a pastor and a denominational administrator. She holds a doctorate from the University of Kansas.
