THE VOLCANO Last week, Chiles Calbuco volcano erupted not once but twice in just 24 hours.
The volcano spewed ash and smoke over several square miles and destroyed farms, businesses and property.
These two videos have popped up online and they both give you a scare.
The first is of a hiker enjoying a day out in the great outdoors as he takes a moment to admire the volcano on his camera when suddenly a huge smoke cloud bellows from the mountain. Understandably the man gets scared and lowers his camera.
The second video is a timelapse of the eruption, and it is mesmerizing. Not only can you see the smoke and ash cloud that reached nearly six miles in the air, but you can also see lightning striking around the plume that looks more like a scene from a Hollywood disaster movie than an actual volcano in Chile.
Thankfully no one was seriously injured, but the area has been evacuated.
While we can sit safely in front of our screens and marvel at these videos, its important to remember that this is a real disaster involving real people.
