On Saturday, Sept. 29, four members of the Cottonwood District-Great Bend 4-H small bore rifle and small bore pistol project, traveled to Topeka. They competed against 4-H marksman from across the state at the end-of-season, State 4-H Small Bore Rifle and Small Bore Pistol competition held at the Capital City Gun Club that is a few miles west of Topeka.

Competing in the small bore rifle match were Will Clark, Woodson Corbett and Katelyn Reh. They shot an NRA three position match and an NRA silhouette match. Will finished the day 17th in the three position match, 15th in the silhouette match and 17th overall. Woodson ended up 19th in the three position match, 19th in the silhouette match and because of loosing a tie for overall standing, finished 20th overall for the day. Katelyn finished 6th in the three position match, 7th in the silhouette match and ended the day 6th overall.

The small bore rifle team for the county was Katelyn and Will. They finished 4th in the team competition.

Competing in the small bore pistol match were Gus Corbett, Woodson Corbett and Katelyn Reh. They shot an NRA Bullseye Pistol Match and an NRA Silhouette Match. Gus placed 18th in the Bullseye match, 17th in the silhouette match and 17th overall for the day. Woodson finished 16th in the Bullseye match, 15th in the silhouette match and 15th overall for the day. Katelyn finished 8th in the Bullseye match, 2nd in the silhouette match and 5th overall for the day. 

The small bore pistol team for the county was Katelyn and Woodson. They finished 5th in the team competition.

With Katelyn’s finish in the pistol competition, she will be invited to be a member of the Kansas small bore pistol team to compete at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships in Grand Island, Nebraska in June 2019.
