Local artist to perform anthem at State Fair

HUTCHINSON — Melanie Ryan of Great Bend will sing the national anthem prior to the Trace Adkins concert at the Kansas State Fair, Friday, Sept. 14, at the Nex-tech Wireless Grandstand. 

Nina Jerke of Wichita will also be performing with Ryan. Their Vocal Variety Concert will include crowd favorites such as, “What a Wonderful World,” “Long Black Train” and “Cheek to Cheek.”

Melanie Ryan and her husband Chris have lived and served in this community since 1994. They have two children, Alaycia Ryan, a 2017 K-State graduate, and Samuel Ryan, a junior at Great Bend High School. She has led music at Community Christian Church for almost 20 years. Her singing ministry has spanned multiple venues such as festivals, churches, weddings and fundraisers.

Chris and Melanie currently work together covering central and western Kansas from the Great Bend office of Sunrise Staffing Services, a premium full-service employment agency.
