The Pilot Club of Great Bend was recognized at the 102nd Pilot International convention in Denver for their service and outstanding contributions to their community. They received international honors at the gold level, 40 members and larger, for one of their caregiver Pick-Me-Up-projects, they were also awarded Second place for Outstanding Club Visibility, Second Place for Outstanding Volunteer hours, and Second Place as an Outstanding Pilot Club.
Each year a service project is chosen by Pilot International that benefits the State the convention visits. This year’s Pilot International Convention service project was for the Autism Society of Colorado. All the attendees put together items for hundreds of sensory bags that were to be given to the Colorado Autism Community.
This service project aligns perfectly with their local Autism awareness and education efforts for this community and Kansas with the upcoming Autism workshop, “Making a Difference: Autism Across the Lifespan” to be held on Oct. 5, at BCC. The workshop is open to educators, parents, grandparents or guardians, caregivers, childcare providers, health professionals. Some scholarships are available.
