Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! It’s the second Thursday of the month, which means that along with our usual Crochet Club and Read to Luna at 4 p.m., we also have our November Adult Craft Night at 6 p.m. This month we will be making Book Wreaths. These book wreaths look amazing and complicated, but are actually straightforward to make, and it’s hard not to come away with a gorgeous new piece of decor.

Teens, warm up those dice, because Friday is the next installment of our Tabletop Teens D&D Miniseries. We still have a couple spots left at the table, so register at greatbendpl.info/teens if you want to jump into the middle of the action! Those who don’t get a spot will be put on the waiting list. Teens are also welcome to join in as spectators; no registration required.

Our regular Story Time for next week has been canceled for staff training, but at 11 a.m. you can still check out Tech Tuesday and get some help with your various devices. And at 5:15 p.m. that evening our NaNoWiMo Support Group is meeting up. NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. Writers can pop in every week in November for a short session to share their progress with librarians and other participating writers. Stuck? Check out the prompt jar! You are also encouraged to hang out and write at the library.

On Wednesday it’s time for our Beyond the Book Reading Club. Families will have the chance to gather together to discuss our next book, “The Hatchet” by Gary Paulsen, and enjoy snacks, literary games, S.T.E.A.M. activities and crafts.

Finally, we come to next Thursday, Nov. 16, starting with Luna and Crochet Club again at 4 p.m. Also happening at 4 p.m. is Genealogy Corner. This time we are focusing on how to dig up some dirt on those distant past relatives in this aptly named class, “My Grandpa Did What?!” Find out where to get records and the best places to search for those salacious family secrets that will make for some interesting conversation at this year’s Thanksgiving table. Last but not least, at 5:30 p.m. teens can join us in the Teen Spot for this month’s Manga and Anime Club. This time we will be watching and discussing “Fullmetal Alchemist” and as a special treat one of our own talented club members will be teaching us how to draw our favorite anime characters.

To see what else we are up to at the library, find us on social media @greatbendpl and visit our website, greatbendpl.info. You can also message us on Facebook, email us at gbcirc@gmail.com, or give us a call at 620-792-2409 with any questions about our programming or services.
