RUSSELL — The opening reception for the Deines first Mystery, Magic & Macabre Juried Exhibition will be held from 5-7 p.m. today.

This exhibition celebrates talented and innovative artists whose thoughtful work uniquely portrays the dark, the mysterious, and the magical. This call for entry brings both local and national art in a variety of media. Juror Dustin Poché will select 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners with awards starting at $500 for first place. Winners will be announced at the reception.

As a tribute to the memory of Matthew Driscoll the gallery is decked out in full Halloween decor including themed sculptures by Dustin Poché and Matthew’s private collection of eclectic Halloween art. Mathew loved autumn, watching the leaves turn, and collecting art that reflected the season. A huge supporter of the arts, Driscoll’s collection was a reflection of his passion finding unusual pieces. This is not just a regular art exhibition, but a full visual arts experience.

Mystery, Magic, & the Macabre is on exhibition Oct. 1 through Nov. 10.

The Deines is located at 820 N. Main Street in Russell. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Thursday, noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 1-5 p.m. Call 785-483-3742 for information.
