LARNED — Fort Larned Chapter NSDAR met Nov. 10 at the Santa Fe Trail Center.
The chapter recently gathered to participate in the National DAR Day of Service. The Kansas DAR chose to make “no sew” blankets for veterans. Forty–one Kansas chapters participated, making 722 blankets by 390 volunteers in 1,625 hours. Fort Larned Chapter made 17 blankets to be distributed in November.
Guest speaker was NBC Sergeant Gaile Fussel. She shared what her duties were. Fussel joined the Kansas National Guard in June 1974 and served until her retirement in January 1996. She was presented one of the blankets and thanked for her service.
On Nov. 11, remaining blankets were distributed to local veterans after the Veterans Day Parade.
Next meeting will be Jan. 12, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Santa Fe Trail Center.
