The Fort Larned Chapter NSDAR meeting was held at the Jordaan Library on Sept. 10. Regent Donna Campbell opened the meeting by leading the group through the DAR ritual, The Pledge of Allegiance, The American Creed, and the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution.

Donna shared an article from a supplement to American Spirit magazine, “Rise up in Service to Your Community,” by our newly elected President General of NSDAR Denise Van Buren.

Members were asked to help support local veterans by attending the monthly Taco Tuesday at the VFW usually on the second Tuesday of the month.

On Sept. 16, the club met at the Courthouse for the County Commissioners to sign a Proclamation declaring Sept. 17-23 Constitution Week. The chapter is providing information to USD 495 Larned Elementary School, preschool through 5th grade. A total of 421 students will receive something connected to the Constitution. USD 496 Pawnee Heights will receive the same for kindergarten through 8th grade, 94 students. Also a display was set up at Jordaan Library for the week with DAR and Constitution information.

The next meeting will be at 2 p.m. on Oct. 11, 2019 at Jordaan Memorial Library.
