Optimist Club will sell Christmas trees

A long-standing tradition returns to Great Bend this holiday season as the Great Bend Optimist Club will again be selling fresh-cut Christmas trees, according to Steve Kummer, tree chairman for the club.

“The Optimist Club has been selling trees every year for decades, until the pandemic caused trees to be unavailable to the local club in 2020,” Kummer said. “We’re really excited to be able to offer fresh-cut trees to the residents of our communities.”

With the opportunity to secure trees this year, the Optimist Club has also secured a new location for their tree lot.

“Christmas trees will be sold on the Stutzman’s lot on the corner of 10th and Washington,” Kummer said. Trees are expected to arrive the week of Thanksgiving and will sell until the inventory is depleted. Hours will be announced in the near future.

The Optimist Club tree selection will include Frasier Firs, Douglas Firs and Black Hills Spruce trees. In addition to the Optimist Trees, Stutzman’s will have homegrown poinsettias for sale. The Christmas tree sale is the major fundraiser for the Great Bend Optimist Club. The club will use proceeds from the sales to support their youth activity projects throughout the year.

The Optimist Club meets Mondays at noon at the Walnut Bowl. Prospective members are always welcome to attend.
