The Pilot Club of Great Bend, in their role as the “Helmet People,” had two successful events in September.

At the Devin’s Ride event on Sept. 17 and the Women’s Expo on Sept. 28, the club gave away good quality bike helmets and also fitted them.

Approximately 40% of all bicycle-related deaths are due to head injuries; three-fourths of all bicycle-related head injuries occur among children ages 14 and under; and many children are simply unable to protect their heads while bike riding because they don’t have access to quality, affordable safety helmets. Pilot Club as the “Helmet People” provides helmets especially to children in our community.
