Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi began this sorority year with an invitation from the Xi Delta Upsilon Chapter for a Beginning Day supper and a program about “Enticing Pollinators to Your Garden,” prepared by Master Gardener Barbara Davenport.

During the two meetings this month, members discussed service projects for the year, which will again include the backpack fruit project for the schools. The Social Committee has a barbecue picnic planned for Sept. 30 in Rosie and Bob Luthi’s backyard. Updates to the Chapter By-laws and Traditions were approved and forwarded to the International Office of Beta Sigma Phi.

Brenda Black presented the two programs for the month. Considering that school had just started, the first one was trivia about schools in the United States, with members sharing memories of their grade-school years. The second program was about various scams and cyber-crime and what individuals can do to protect themselves. Members then told stories about the scams that they had experienced.
