Quilting Bees meet Oct. 15

The Quilting Bees guild met on Oct. 15 at the First Presbyterian Church in Larned. Roll call was answered by “Something I’m Working on Now.” A thank you note was read from Dick and Marcia King for the prayer quilt for brother-inlaw Wayne Weber of Dodge City. President Ann Hicks distributed the next mystery quilt block. Door prizes were won by Melvina Prescott and Janell Barton. 

In lieu of a program, the following displayed their recent projects: Becky Obermiller, Bossy Sisters challenge quilt top featuring sunflowers and maple leaves; Janell Barton, Lighthouse table runner made entirely from scraps and a mug rug small table topper; Cheryl Skalsky, pieced pot holders and a Carolina Cane quilt top; Alice Clapsaddle, Christmas dish towels, two wall hangings, mystery fall leaves wall hanging, Martha Blew quilt blocks; Colleen Wolf, Bossy Sisters Challenge table runner, mystery leaves wall hanging, black/red/white wall hanging, fall sunflower wall hanging; Heather Hicks, Halloween quilt and knitted light blue baby sweater and hat; Laveda Kraft, Brides Around the World

blocks of cultures of the world and a hand pieced “Stars” king size quilt top; Sharon King, blue nursing coverup and matching nursing pads; Opal Macy, chenille block “Play Pretty”; Ann Hicks, chenille baby quilt and Bossy Sisters challenge wall hanging; Melvina Prescott, Mystery leaf quilt top, Garfield Legion quilt in red/white/blue and quilt top for her 28 year old son’s baby quilt.

The next regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Nov. 5. Anyone interested in quilting, sewing, knitting or crocheting are welcome to attend. For additional information, call the church at 285-6033.
