On Oct. 3, 4, and 5, the GBHS Class of 1953 celebrated their 60th anniversary of their graduation from Great Bend High School.
Thirty-six class members and their family members were in attendance, along with several members from other classes. In order to maintain friendships and keep memories alive, in October the class of 1953 has an annual class gathering in Great Bend.
A few years ago, the class established a tradition of awarding scholarships to two Great Bend High School seniors to assist with their textbook expenses at Barton Community College. The class committee asked the principle of the high school to choose a deserving boy and girl to each receive a Text Book Scholarship.
The Class Committee published memories of then and now entitled “Rhorea 60 Years 1953 – 2013”.
