The Walt Vincent Iwo lima Reunion and Dinner will be held on May 2, at the Arden H. McKee American Legion Post #128, 108 East Garfield in Sterling. The door will open at 4 p.m. for conversation, refreshments, and viewing of war/military memorabilia. All veterans are invited and encouraged to bring personal memorabilia. Colors will be presented at 6 p.m. followed by dinner. The meal will cost $12 per person, at the door. Menu will be tossed salad, choice of baked smothered steak or fried chicken, potato, green beans, bread, and dessert, coffee, or tea. Food substitution available upon request in advance. The event was founded by the late Walt Vincent in 1996, an Iwo Jima veteran and Purple Heart recipient. Several years ago the committee began inviting other World War II veterans to the reunion. Last year the invitation extended to all veterans.
