Rowen wins Audience Favorite Award at Tabor Voice Festival

Gaunt’s Music Studio entered three area high school voice students in the Tabor Voice Festival, which was held Oct. 26 in Hillsboro at the Tabor College campus. The competition is divided into classifications: High School Freshman/Sophomore Classical, and Musical Theatre divisions; High School Junior/Senior Classical, and Musical Theatre divisions; and College Freshmen/Sophomore Classical, and Musical Theatre divisions.  

Caden Rowen, Ellinwood High School sophomore, was entered into the Freshmen/Sophomore Classical and Musical Theater divisions. Andrew Maier, a Central Plains senior, was entered into the Junior/Senior Classical division. Haley Troyer, an Ellinwood High School junior, was entered into the Junior/Senior Classical and Musical Theatre divisions. All contestants prepared one memorized song for each division entered.  

When preliminary rounds were completed, the top three finalists were announced. Rowen was a finalist in the Freshmen/Sophomore Classical Division and the Freshmen/Sophomore Musical Theatre Division. All finalists performed in a concert where judges would select one winner from each category. The audience also participated in voting/judging for the Audience Favorite Award. 

Rowen won the Freshmen/Sophomore Classical division,and the Freshmen/Sophomore Musical Theatre division, as well as the Audience Favorite Award. Caden is the son of Brian and Jamie Rowen, of Ellinwood.
