Jim and Lorraine Schneweis

Jim and Lorraine (Maneth) Schneweis will celebrate their 60th anniversary with a reception from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at the St. John’s Parish Hall, 122 East 5th Street in Hoisington. Friends and family are invited to celebrate with them. Their children, Walter Schneweis, Patty and Doug Francis, Michelle and Richard Laurinec, Becky and Francis Demel, and Chuck and Krysty Schneweis, will host the anniversary reception. The couple has 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Lorraine Maneth and Jim Schneweis were united in marriage April 7, 1959, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in La Crosse. They are members of St. John’s Catholic Church in Hoisington.

Jim is a retired pharmacist. He graduated from Creighton University School of Pharmacy. He then served in the Korean War. Jim and Lorraine met at Carper Drugstore in La Crosse, where Jim was a pharmacist. After their marriage, the family lived in LaCrosse and then moved to Quinter for a short time. In 1967, Jim and Lorraine purchased the Cardinal Pharmacy in Hoisington. Jim managed this business where he worked until April 20, 2001, when the tornado destroyed the store. Shortly after, he occasionally worked as relief pharmacist for the Hoisington Hospital. He retired in 2018. Jim is a member of the Hoisington Knights of Columbus and is an avid gardener. Lorraine is a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandma. Blessed with many talents, she remains a wonderful cook and seamstress for her family.
