The Barton Dance Theatre will host the “Superhero” Creative Camp for Kids fundraiser from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13 in the Fine Arts Auditorium and tickets will be available through shows.bartonccc.edu for $20 per child and $5 for additional siblings.

Dance Director Danika Bielek said she designed the fundraiser as a way for kids to enjoy being active while at the same time connecting her dancers with the community in a positive way. She said the camp is designed to give parents a little together time as their children spark their imagination in short classes taught by Barton dance students. Activities will explore all types of superheroes as kids learn dance, tumbling, visual art, drama, enjoy story time, have a snack and more. Children will be grouped together by their age to ensure all activities will be age-appropriate.

“The camp is one of our students’ favorite activities because they enjoy sharing what they love to do with the kids while also gaining teaching experience,” she said. “At the end of the camp, everyone is happy and worn out from the fun time... even the college students! We hope that the camp will inspire kids to continue creating and exploring the arts throughout their lives.”

All funds earned will help the students’ travel expenses for trips to the American College Dance Festival in Texas and dancing in New York City.  COVID precautions will be taken and all college students who have contact with the campers will wear masks.
