Emily Rae Lanzer and Todd Christopher Sherman were united in marriage on April 16 at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Wesley Covenant Chapel in Leawood in a double-ring ceremony officiated by the Rev. Karen Lampe of Leawood and the Rev. Mike Toluba of Manhattan. Parents of the couple are Chris and Patti Lanzer of Overland Park and Dennis and Jann Sherman of Great Bend.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white, satin A-line gown with a beaded, embroidered bodice and cap sleeves, inverted V empire with a cathedral train. Her veil and headpiece were a rhodium tiara embellished with round cut rhinestones holding a cathedral length veil with a vine motif along the edge. Her bouquet was a loose, free-form cascade of white freesias, Orlando roses, pink sweet peas, garnet glow mini calla lilies with maiden hair fern accents.
Maid of honor was Sarah Lanzer, sister of bride, of Overland Park. Bridesmaids were Lauren Porterfield of Manhattan, Alex Stuerke of Nashville, Tenn., and Jill Sherman, sister of groom, of Manhattan. They wore black knee length dresses. The maid of honor wore a watermelon pink sash and the bridesmaids wore clover green sashes. They carried small hand tied clusters of three garnet glow calla lilies with lily grass accents.
Best man was Matthew Clarke  of Topeka. Groomsmen were Andrew Heim of Manhattan,  Cole Reif of Hays, and Mark Stansfield of Lawrence.
Ushers were Aaron Lanzer and Kyle Lanzer, both of San Diego, Calif., and Nick Lanzer of Ashland, Ohio, all cousins of the bride.
The bride is a graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication with an emphasis in Advertising. She is employed as a preschool paraprofessional at Heartland Elementary School in Overland Park.
The groom is a graduate of Kansas State University, with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering. He is employed as a Software Engineer at Garmin International in Olathe.
After an eastern Caribbean cruise honeymoon, the couple resides in Overland Park.
