Wendel Folkerts, formerly of Great Bend, is celebrating his 80th birthday on Sept. 16, 2019, with a card shower. He was born in 1939 in Rush County and is retired from NCRA since 2006. 

His family includes Anna, wife of 52 years of the home; three sons, Bret of Hays, Chad and wife Lori of Rush Center, Oliver of Winnipeg, Canada; and daughters, Jeni Hanken and husband Terry, McPherson, and Jill Reifschneider and husband Mark of McPherson; plus eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
