Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! As many of you may know the library opened its door this past week to the public. Visitors will have noticed some things look a bit different. We are taking precautions right now for everyone’s safety. This includes hosting our summer library program and other events online for now.

We have several events coming up this week, but first I’d like to announce that registration for our children’s summer library program is now open. The program will take place the whole month of July. Register before June 29 to receive your summer library bag, filled with four weeks of reading challenges, activities, and goodies. Parents who register will be able to pick up curbside June 29 -30. Bags will come with everything you need to participate including materials and instructions. You can find more information on our website greatbendpl.info including how to register.

This week we have several events for teens and adult patrons alike. Our teen writing club will meet Monday via discord. This is a great club for anyone grade 6-12 who enjoys writing or just being creative in a safe peer driven atmosphere. If you want to check out what the writing club is all about, you can check out their blog: thewritingclubtm.wordpress.com. We have another teen group, our teen anime and manga club. Teens can join us, Thursday night at 6 for anime night, where we watch an anime picked by teens in the club. Anime night is open to teens 13 and up, and anyone interested in Japanese visual culture. To find out more information on how to join either of these events, please visit our website under programs and events then the teen online events tab. Or check out our Facebook events page.

For adults, this week our open book club is meeting on Tuesday night at 7 through Zoom. We will be discussing this month’s book, “Carry On,” by Rainbow Rowell. If this book sounds interesting stop by and see if we have a copy available, or check out the audio book through Hoppla, our free digital services. If you would like to attend check out our Facebook event page. You can follow the event and be notified when it’s happening, as well as, get the link to the meeting.

You can always call into the Zoom meeting if you won’t  have access to a computer, as well. If you have any questions about Zoom or would like the number to call in to the Zoom meeting feel free to email, message us, or give us a call.
