The Rice County Historical Society is seeking loans of aprons to complement the traveling exhibit “Apron Strings: Ties to the Past.” The loans are needed by Jan. 14, and will be returned after March 19, to the lenders. For additional information, call (620) 257-3941.
Aprons were used in the past for a variety of reasons and things. Although their major purpose was to keep clothes clean, they were used as “potholders,” as baskets for carrying eggs into the house, and as handkerchiefs for wiping tears and runny noses.
The show will run from Jan. 28 to March 16th. “Apron Strings” is part of ExhibitsUSA, a traveling exhibit program run by the Mid-America Arts Alliance.
