BCC closes for Fourth of July

 

The Barton Community College campus and Center for Adult Education will be closed Monday for the Independence Day observance. Classes and offices will resume regular schedules on Tuesday.

 

Cemetery Board meets Thursday

 

The City of Great Bend Cemetery Board will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday at the cemetery office. For more information contact Tim Wornkey, cemetery supervisor, 793-0847.

 

Wetlands Education Center sponsors dragonfly program

 

The Kansas Wetlands Education Center will sponsor "Dancing Dragonflies," the first in a series of summer programs for youths 4-12 years old, on July 7. The program is free but preregistration is required by Friday, July 1.

The program will include activities, games and crafts. Children should bring sunscreen, insect repellent and water. The Education Center is located 10 miles northeast of Great Bend on K-156.

BCC offers Medication Aide Update in Lyons

 

Barton Community College will offer a Certified Medication Aide Update in Lyons to provide CMAs with continuing education and a review of medications and delivery styles.

The class will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 19 and 26, at the Lyons Good Samaritan Center. Enrollment is limited.

The CMA Update will enhance participants’ knowledge and skills essential for proper storage, handling and administration of medications. It also will provide updates on drug/drug and drug/food interactions, legal guidelines and regulations pertaining to medication administration and the older adult.
