Mary Lou Brown, 89, passed away July 23, 2026, at Azria Health Woodhaven, Great Bend, Kan. She was born on June 27, 1937, in O’Donnell, Texas, to Douglas and May (Levacy) Dickey. She married Jessie Wilburn; though they divorced, their union was blessed with two sons. On April 1, 1977, she married Charles Brown in Pratt, Kan. He passed on May 20, 2017.
A resident of Great Bend coming from Pratt in 1977, Mary worked as a clerk at Walmart and a bookkeeper at Stanion Wholesale Electric Co. prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mary enjoyed playing bingo and dominos, and cherished spending time with her family.
Survivors include two stepsons, Bill Brown (Julie) of Kansas City, and George Brown of Texas; three stepdaughters, Connie Flint (Bill) of Lafayette, La., Beverly Cannon (Mike) of Great Bend, and Cheslea Brown of Hutchinson; numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, John Wilburn and Glenn Wilburn; granddaughter, Abby Flint; great grandson, Dade Cannon; and brother, Richard Dickey.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at Church of Christ with Pastor John Turner presiding. Visitation will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2026, with family receiving guests from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home.
