The Barton County Arts Council is accepting entries for its second annual photography competition, "People, Places and Things."
Entries will be accepted weekday mornings, from 9-11:30 a.m., at the Barton County Arts Center, located at Forest and Main in Great Bend, through Wednesday, Aug. 10. The exhibit will open Aug. 10 and continue through Sept. 2.
The purpose of this contest is to identify and promote talented emerging and advanced photographers in the Barton County area, and to provide them with a format to exhibit and display their work. All photographic work is eligible, from digital to traditional black and white printed work.
All work must be 8 by 10 inches or 8 ½ by 11 inches and mounted on an 11 x 14 mounting board, and must have a hanging device attached to the back of the work. Mountings in accordance with County and State Fair rules are acceptable. Each artist may submit up to three photographs, but the juror will make the final decision as to what will be accepted into the exhibition. Each photographer will have at least one work accepted into the show. There will be a non-refundable entry of $5 per photographer.
There will be two divisions, one for youths in grades 8-12 and one for serious amateurs aged 18 years and old. There will be a $50 "best of show" prize awarded in each division.
