The local Habitat for Humanity will hold auditions this month for the “Barton County’s Got Talent” dinner theater scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014.
The annual fundraiser includes a variety show featuring all sorts of talents, said Rachel Mawhirter, even organizer. Casting calls will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, and from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Grace Community Church, 201 McKinley St. in Great Bend. The church is also the host site for the fundraiser.
“Individuals who participate in our variety show can take pride knowing that not only are they having fun performing for a live audience of approximately 500 people, but they’re also helping a worthy non-profit agency make a difference in our community,” Mawhirter said.
Habitat for Humanity recently finished rehabilitating a home in Great Bend that was sold to generate revenue for building new projects. The board of directors is now looking to the future, with members hoping to take on the next building project in the summer of 2014.
Although the auditions are held at a local church, auditioning acts do not have to be religious in nature. No appointments are necessary to audition. Tickets for the dinner theater will go on sale in early December.
