Baby Sitter training offered

The Great Bend Recreation Commission has a few openings left for its American Red Cross Baby Sitters Training for Monday, Oct. 22. The class runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Great Bend Recreation Center, 1214 Stone St.
This Red Cross course is designed to give participants the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants through school-aged children. Topics include safety issues, preventing injuries and illness, basic child care, first aid, rescue breathing, care for choking and age appropriate behavior. Each student will receive a Red Cross handbook.
Students are required to bring a sack lunch. This class is open for children ages 11-15. The entry fee is $24, and partial scholarships are available.
